Privacy Policy
Our Core Privacy Commitment
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. PomoPal operates 100% on your device. All your settings, preferences, and timer data are saved strictly locally in your browser.
1. Overview & Core Principles
PomoPal Focus ("PomoPal", "we", "our") is designed from the ground up with user privacy as a fundamental principle. We believe that productivity extensions should empower your workflow without tracking your browsing habits, activities, or personal information.
This Privacy Policy transparently describes how data is handled and confirms that no external servers or third parties ever access your information.
2. Zero Data Collection Policy
PomoPal does NOT collect, track, transmit, or monetize any user data. Specifically:
- No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, usernames, passwords, IP addresses, or location data.
- No Browsing History: PomoPal does NOT monitor, record, log, or transmit any URLs, website content, keystrokes, form submissions, or browsing activity.
- No Analytics or Trackers: We do not embed Google Analytics, telemetry SDKs, or third-party tracking cookies.
3. Local Data Storage Policy
To remember your timer preferences across browser sessions, PomoPal uses Chrome's built-in local storage API (chrome.storage.local).
Data stored strictly on your local machine includes:
- Timer duration settings (Focus, Short Break, Long Break).
- Visual theme and accent color selections (e.g., Sunset, Futuristic, Neobrutalism, Y2K).
- Cursor follow preferences (Physics mode: Smooth, Instant, Ambient; Badge / Ring mode).
- Audio alert preferences and volume levels.
This data never leaves your computer and cannot be accessed by external parties.
4. Chrome Permissions Explained
PomoPal requests only the minimum necessary permissions to function:
-
storage: Used strictly to save your timer configurations and theme choices locally in your browser. -
alarms: Used to run accurate background Pomodoro countdown clocks in the extension service worker. -
notifications: Used to show desktop alerts when your focus session or break ends. -
host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required solely to render the floating cursor timer inside visited pages via an isolated Shadow DOM container. PomoPal does not inspect, read, or transmit any page contents.
5. Third-Party Services
PomoPal contains no advertising networks or third-party analytics. The extension includes an optional link to Ko-fi for voluntary developer tips, which opens in an external tab governed by Ko-fi's own terms and privacy policy.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Because all data is stored locally in your browser:
- You can reset or modify your preferences at any time in the PomoPal popup.
- Uninstalling PomoPal from Google Chrome immediately and permanently removes all stored data from your machine.
